Mr. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nor, The Minister of Justice of the Federal Government of Somalia, the Deputy Attorney General, and other staff of the justice, attended an inspiring and informative meeting with Sharia & law students of Mogadishu University. The aim of the meeting was to encourage the law students in Mogadishu University to improve their forthcoming future careers and work hard to take their part in expanding access to justice in this much needed time and context.
The president of Mogadishu University Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed Mursal who attended the meeting and welcomed the visitors, thanked to the minister and the other guests for the consideration and encouragement they offered to the Somali students studying law. Moreover, the president of Mogadishu University acclaimed the role of the ministry and other justice institutions for their tireless support to the students and how they tend to focus on producing a new bright, skillful generation of legal professionals.
On the other hand, the Minister of Justice, Mr. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nor, commended the role of Mogadishu University in improving the legal education and training of judges, pointing out that graduates of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Mogadishu University are prominent in the country’s judiciary.
Mogadishu University in collaboration with Somalia Ministry of Justice and UNDP provides legal scholarships for students selected from the Somali regional states to improve knowledge and skills of the law and expanding access to justice in the country.
Collaboration Visit to Kenyatta University: Strengthening Academic Ties
A delegation from Mogadishu University embarked on a visit to Kenyatta University, one of our esteemed strategic partners. The purpose of this visit was to enhance regional collaborations, foster joint research initiatives, facilitate student and faculty exchanges, and promote the exchange of best practices in higher education. During their visit, the MU team had the opportunity to explore various aspects of Kenyatta University’s main campus. They were given a comprehensive tour, which included visits to key facilities such as the International Programs and Collaboration office, as well as the Department of Educational Communication and Technology. This collaboration visit was an important step towards strengthening the academic ties between Mogadishu University and Kenyatta University. It laid the foundation for future collaborations and provided valuable insights into the successful practices and initiatives implemented by our partner institution. We look forward to further expanding our partnership with Kenyatta University and exploring new avenues for joint academic endeavours.
